This book is a MUST read! I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. If I thought the first book was good then this one is great. It's another well written book by A.B. McKinley. He really knows how to suck a reader into the story and make them feel what the characters are feeling. I found myself feeling so many different emotions while reading this book. You meet a lot of new characters and some of the characters from the first book will also be present in this book. Let's just say that all rules are off when it comes to the good guys and the bad guys. There is some really ruthless betrayal in this book. I didn't see the betrayal coming until I was on top of it. So it will come as a surprise. Some of the people you think you can trust you can't and the ones you think you shouldn't trust you should. This book does not lack in the action or sex department area either. You will not be disappointed with this book, I promise you that. Here's a little of what happens in the book and some of the characters you will meet and ones you have already met. I would totally recommend this book to anyone that loves action, romance, and suspense. This book is not just a must read for women but for men as well.
The characters returning from the first book are:
*Katie- the girl next door, Scott's love and the character we all fell in love with.
*Tom- Scott's previous boss in Iraq and good friend. Also a bodyguard working for the PCPS.
*Brittany- the hot girl Scott protected for six months.
*Katie's parents and daughters- just mentioned occasionally.
*Michael- Katie's crazy ex-husband
New character's we will meet in this book:
*Chris- was in the British military (not with Scott's unit) and a good friend of Scott's. Smart and also a sexy Scotsmen.
*Sam- a local bar tender
*Jim Robinson- A billion dollar business man. Friendly and down to earth. Loving husband and father.
*Linda Robinson- A billion dollar business woman married to Jim. Also down to earth and friendly as well as a loving wife and mother.
*Kyle- son of Linda and Jim. Still in college and deciding what he'll do with his future.
*Tiffany- Linda and Jim's oldest daughter and business woman. Kyle's oldest sister.
*Katy- Jim and Linda's middle child and also a business woman. Kyle's older sister and Tiffany's younger sister.
*Josh- Katy's husband.
*Alexei- Kyle's Russian college roommate and best friend.
*Keith- a crazy low life on drugs and thinks he's tough stuff.
I believe that's all the main characters you will need to remember, there are others that will appear for a short while.
This book will take you from Ohio to California and to Russia. Its filled with action in all 3 places.
Scott will be betrayed by some people and it will hurt all of us. He has been asked to help with some security issues and does what's best for everyone involved but when things go wrong it'll be Scott along with a few co-conspirators to save the day. Scott is a hero though he will never claim to be. He is then asked a very big question that will take some thinking before he can answer which will lead to our cliffhanger, leaving us dying to know the answer and wanting his next book right now.
In my opinion this book was great and I just know the third will be even better and leaving us wanting more just like this book did. Another great peice of work from A.B. McKinley.
